The Academy of Music and Theatre Arts (AMATA) at Falmouth University is a vibrant, entrepreneurial and industry-connected hub for actors, musicians, producers, composers, dancers, theatre performers, lighting and sound designers, theatre technicians and entertainment managers in training. 

We have an international reputation for excellence that attracts some of the world’s top artists and educators.  Our courses develop sound practical skills and techniques in your discipline alongside a depth of contextual knowledge. Our multidisciplinary environment enables creative collaborative relationships with your peers.  Our commitment is to create flexible, responsive, resilient, inquiring, skilful, innovative graduates who can not only make a living in their chosen discipline but also help to redefine it.  

We have close working relationships with Island Records, Yamaha, Solid State Logic, Native Instruments, Cooking Vinyl, RouteNote, Music Ally, Kneehigh Theatre, Wildworks, Simon Birch Dance, Prodigal Theatre, Theo Clinkard, Siobhan Davies, Prototype Theatre, The Hall for Cornwall and a host of national and international arts, music and theatre organisations and companies. We are dedicated to the delivery of performance, education and research across theatre, dance, music and technical theatre arts. 

AMATA is also a professional venue that hosts a year-round performance programme attracting top artists and performers from all over the world.  Recent seasons have seen sell-out shows from leading companies such as Shobana Jeyasingh Dance, Wardrobe Ensemble, Belarus Free Theatre, Forced Entertainment, Kneehigh, and concerts from groups and ensembles including Cara Dillon, Sheelanigig,  Bellatrix, Jana Winderen, BSO, Seckou Keita, Adrian Utley, Neil Halstead, Bill Drummond, Rei Nakamura, Troy Miller and Graham Fitkin.
